Welcome

Thank you for visiting our website!

For Many Years, Oh God of Grace!

"The purpose of this congregation is to share the true Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, throughout our membership, our communities and the world."

Zion is....a congregation of The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.  The LCMS was chartered in 1847 and Zion joined Synod in 1880.

Zion was chartered in 1873 and is one of the oldest continuous congregations of the LCMS between here and the west coast.

Zion is....a Christ centered, Bible believing congregation.  Based on the tenets of the Lutheran Reformation - Grace Alone, Faith Alone and Scripture Alone - Zion's focus is always the blood that Christ has shed for us.

Zion is....a congregation committed to Christian education and youth.  Even before having their first pastor, classes were being held in a sod cabin.

Zion is....a rural congregation with great diversity.  Locally, Zion draws members from Aurora, Bradshaw, Hampton, Henderson, Grand Island, Marquette, Polk and York.  The diversity of the congregation is reflected in the occupational pursuits of Zion's members.

Zion is....a mission minded church having shared members to start Immanuel, Polk: Salem and St. Peter, Hampton; and having helped St. Paul, Central City.  Mission starts were considered in Bradshaw and Sutton.  Currently Zion is sponsoring a preaching station in Aurora.  Mission groups at Zion have been active in Gospel outreach and support as well as social ministry.

Backpack Project

The Nebraska District is partnering with Orphan Grain Train to supply backpacks and share Christ with needy studentsImage result for school backpacks both near and far.  2017 District Youth Gathering participants will fill backpacks during a servant event at the Gathering in November.  We need your help to make this project possible!

As you plan your school shopping trip, please consider donating your backpack from last year, or buy an extra to share! The LWML will collect the backpacks at Zion through the first part of October. What an exciting way to think of others as the school year begins.

Children's Bibles

Because of the most generous response to Bibles for our students, ALL students in grades 1-6 will be receiving a Bible during the worship service on Sept. 10.  The members of Zion Congregation want to “Spread the Word” by insuring that all youth are equipped with the WORD! Thank you for your support of this LWML and Thrivent Action Grant project. We are hoping that as many students as possible will be present on that Sunday to receive their Bible.

Reformation 500 year Anniversary Celebration

Mark your calendars for November 5, 2017.  The Zion Lutheran Endowment Committee will be organizing a Reformation 500 Year Anniversary Celebration.  We plan to have an authentic pot luck German meal in the Parish Hall following our church service.  Start searching for your authentic German recipes now!   We have asked Pastor Feddern to be our guest speaker.  He will cover Zion's German heritage history as well as the history of the Reformation.

Adult Bible Class

Heresies and false teachings have plagued the Christian Church from her earliest days, but few realize how these false teachings still impact the Church today.  Join us at 9:00 a.m. beginning on Sunday, January 8th, as we begin "One Truth, Many Lies," a Bible study that explores these significant false truths in the history of the Church and expose them to the truth of the Scriptures, following the three-part pattern of the Apostle's Creed:  (1) Who God is and what He has said, (2) The two natures of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and (3) The work of the Holy Spirit, the gift of salvation, the ministry of the Church, and the resurrection from the dead.  Participants will be equipped with the tools necessary to expose false teachings and remain faithful to God's Word.

Men's Bible Breakfast Study

Join us as we study the Courageous Fathers of the Bible, which examines the lives of 12 real men in the Bible, the work of Christian fatherhood, and the challenges and victories these 12 men faced as they relied on God's grace.  The fathers that will be discussed include Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Job, Solomon, Joseph, Jairus, the Official, and the prodigal son's father.  We will meet every other Tuesday.  Please check calendar for updates.

Meals for Moms

The LWML is sponsoring a new caring ministry, Meals for Moms.  This ministry would provide frozen meals to families with newborns. We are asking members of the congregation to help us in this endeavor.  If you would be interested in helping provide a meal for a family, please add your name to the sign up sheet in the entry of the church or respond to Zion’s eNews. When there is a new baby, a member of the LWML will contact 5-10 of the volunteers to make a freezer meal...this would be a main dish but could also be dessert, bread...things that could be put in the freezer. (in disposable containers) Calls would be made on a rotating basis. We thank you in advance for your willingness to help! If you have any questions, contact Loa Winter or Kathy Gloystein.
