Here is a quick glance at the upcoming Education Activities for this month and next.

LOOK AHEAD FOR OCTOBER & NOVEMBER:

 

MIDWEEK (6:30-8:00pm)  -  Grades 4th thru 8th

October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 – Regular Midweek Classes

October 2 & 16 – High School Hangout Nights (8:00-8:45pm)

November 6, 13, 20 – Regular Midweek Classes

* November 27 – No MIDWEEK… Thanksgiving Break

 

SUNDAY SCHOOL (8:50-9:50am)  -  Grades PreK thru 12th

 

October 6, 13, 20, 27 – Regular Sunday Classes

** Sunday, Oct 13th- Voter’s Meeting after 10am church service

November 3, 10, 17 – Regular Sunday Classes

* November 24 – Combined Thanksgiving Family Sunday School Lesson

 

** CHILDREN SING- SUNDAY (October 13):  Parents, please make sure kids are on time to practice our song for the next several Sundays - October 6, 13 from 8:50-9:00am.  On Sunday, October 13, children will line up in the fellowship hall at the end of the Sunday school hour and process in to sing at the beginning of the 10am service.  They will then join you in the pew. 

 

SAVE THE DATE... CHRISTMAS PROGRAM

Mark your calendar for Tuesday, December 24th.  The Children’s Christmas Eve Program that night at 6:00pm.  We celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior!  If anyone is interested in helping with program music or practices, please talk to DCE Ben.

 

OCTOBER YOUTH STUFF…

 

ALL YOUTH (6-12th grade):

Youth Medical Forms… We have new Youth Medical Forms for this academic year, if you haven't done this, please complete and turn in to DCE Ben.  I sent out via email, but have blank copies you can fill out.  We also need copies of your insurance cards and can do that at church if needed.

 

ALL YOUTH: LEAF RAKING MARATHON- Sunday, Nov 24

Save the date... Sunday, November 24th.  All youth (6th thru 12th grade students) will be helping neighbors in need with yard work from 1 to 4:30pm. Great service hours opportunity; parents & siblings are encouraged to participate too!

Middle School Stuff...  (6-8th graders)

Confirmation - Midweek (6:30-8pm on Wednesdays) 

We've had a couple great weeks of class to get us started.  Kids seem to enjoy the snacks and games, plus hopefully learning some new things about God/Bible.  Thanks to all the folks who signed up for snacks... Our calendar is filled up for the year!

MS Cookies and Costume Night- Sunday, Oct 27

Is happening at the end of October... We will be at Zion on Sunday, October 27th (5-8pm).  We will need a couple ADULT helpers.  Kids will get a postcard invite... they can bring a friend (please let me know if they plan to).  Costume Theme is "Favorite Superhero"... a known hero or create a new one. 

 

MS Bowling in York- Sunday, Sept 14

It was a blast throwing balls again this year.  THANKS to all those who attended and Sarah Eberle for helping chaperone.  We talked about Psalm 119:33-36 and the importance of learning from others, but most importantly from God.

 High School Stuff... (9-12th graders)

** PLEASE ATTEND:  National Youth Gathering (NYG) Meeting on Sunday, October 6th after church, to talk about a trip to New Orleans next summer (July 19-23, 2025).  HIGH SCHOOL KIDS & PARENTS PLEASE ATTEND!  We have to register by November 1st, but if we know kids can't attend, I'd like to plan an alternate event.  I NEED you all there to help with that conversation and planning.

 HIGH SCHOOL BONFIRE IN THE COUNTRY (Sunday, Oct 13)

High School youth will be having a bonfire fun night on Sunday, October 13th.  Meeting at church at 6:00pm, and then we’ll head over to Sharon Goertzen’s pasture.   We will be enjoying some burnt hotdogs, smore’s, and drinks!  We’ll have some yard games to play too! 

PLEASE RSVP, so we can pick up the right amount of food!  

 Things to Bring:

-          Camp chair

-          Friends are welcome

-          Favorite cookout side or snack

-          Bug Spray & Flashlights

 

HIGH SCHOOL HANG OUTS - Wednesdays, October 2 & 16

In October, the High School youth will be gathering at Zion a couple times a month to hang out, eat snacks, play some games and a short devo.  We will meet from 8:00-8:45pm.

 

THANKS… HS: PIZZA, POP, & PICKLEBALL (Sunday, Sept 22)

We had lots of laughs as we found ourselves occasionally in a “pickle” as we competed on Sept 22.  Congrats to Weston Panko & Weston Ohrt on winning the most matches (they won a couple jars of pickles).  Thanks to all the youth who participated and Big thanks to Kathy Gloystein & Nichole Wetjen for helping with food and games!  Talked about Exodus 13-14 - Crossing of the Red Sea & Trusting God.
